We are the intrepid few enrolled in a course at the University of Virginia called “Dirty Hands: The Ethics of Action.” The spine of this class, which is taking place in Spring 2020, is a close reading of Rising Up and Rising Down by William Vollmann. But we’re also reading Sartre, Camus, George Bernard Shaw, Michael Walzer, and many other important writers.
